Abstract
248,356. Blumer, H. March 2, 1925, [Convention date]. Wearing-apparel for mountaineers &c.-A costume for mountaineers and others working in a breathable but rarefied atmosphere envelopes the whole body and is provided with means for forcing the surrounding air into it until ordinary pressure is obtained. Air is forced into the suit 1 by a hand pump 4 through a reservoir 5 communicating with a chamber 11 in a. mask 7. The air enters the chamber 11 through a non-return valve 9 and leaves through a valve 10 opening into the body of the suit. The suit is provided with a relief valve 12 and air can be passed directly to the body of the suit through a pipe 13 provided with a tap. The suit is stiffened with ribs 2 and made airtight in known manner. In a modification, the chamber 11 is divided into two portions communicating with the nose and mouth respectively and the valves 9, 10 are dispensed with.
