Abstract

247,942. Burgess Laboratories, C. F., (Assignees of Hoffman, W. H.). Feb. 17, 1925, [Convention date]. Thermionic generators. -In a thermionic oscillator, suitable for the production of very high frequencies, the inductance and capacity elements of the output or oscillatory circuit are arranged to constitute a Wheatstone bridge, the high tension supply to the plate of the valve being connected across points of equal high-frequency potential. As shown in the Figure, the inductance is in two parts 7, 8 and the capacity comprises two variable condensers 9, 10 mounted on a common spindle. A large blocking condenser 11, having small reactance to the frequencies generated, protects the grid from the plate voltage. The plate, grid, and filament connections to the oscillatory circuit are made at the points 20, 19, and 12 respectively, the grid leak 14 being located as shown. The high-tension battery 17 is connected across the points 12 and 18, the latter having practically the same high-frequency potential as the point 13. The output is fed to the aerial through a coupling 21.
