Azo dyes, soluble chromium compounds of. - The azo dyes derived from nitrated o-oxydiazo compounds and 1-naphthylamine derivatives which couple in the 2-position are converted into chromium compounds by treating with agents that yield chromium such as the salts, oxides, and hydroxides of trivalent chromium. The products dye wool from an acid bath in green, olive-green, or black-green tints. According to an example, the dyestuff from diazotized picramic acid and naphthionic acid is boiled with chromium fluoride and glass powder; the dyestuffs from picramic acid and 1-naphthylamine-5-sulphonic acid, or from 4-nitro-2-aminophenol and naphthionic acid are also specified.
