Abstract

Sliver-rubbing apparatus. -Means for reciprocating the rubbing-leathers of a condenser comprises a pair of parallel shafts A, A<1> connected by skew gearing a and mounted in bearings b in a box B. The lower gear runs in an oil-box C and the bearings are oiled through tubes b<2> reached through holes in removable plates which can be applied to close the box B. The lower shaft A<1> is driven through a stepped pulley a'. Each shaft A, A<1> terminates in a plate a' provided with an eccentrically arranged socket to accommodate a boss a<3> on a crank-plate a<4>. The throw of the crank is adjusted by turning the plate a<4> relatively to the plate a<1> and the two are secured by a bolt a<5> working in a slot a<6>. The cranks are connected by links a<8> to the frames D carrying the rubbing- leathers. The cranks &c. can be enclosed in a detachable casing.
