Abstract
246,312. Widgeon, E. J. Jan. 28, 1925. Catches, spring; fastenings for sliding windows. -A pivoted catch-member on the upper rail of the lower sash adapted to be swung into a notch in the side rail of the upper sash, is secured against release by a spring - pressed sliding- bolt which mav be mounted on the catch to engage a recess in the notch in the side rail, or in the notch to engage a recess in the end of the catch. The catch 3 is pivoted at 2 on a plate 1 with a recess 17 for the foot of the catch, and engages a recess or housing 6. In the form shown, a spring-pressed bolt 9 operated by the finger-piece 11, is mounted on the catch and engages a recess in the housing 6. A spring may be mounted in the recess 17 to actuate the catch. A flap 14 may be pivoted to the catch below a projection 16 so that as the catch engages, the flap slides along the flanges of the plate 1 and engages a recess in the housing 6 to prevent the entry of a knife between the sash rails to force the catch out of its engaging position. The pivot pin 2 may be secured in place by cap nuts for facilitating its removal.
