Balancing moving parts. -In packing for turbine &c. shafts of the type comprising two sets of packing teeth 29, 31 carried by the casing at different radial distances from the shaft and co-operating with radial surfaces on a collar 26 on the shaft, axial movement of one of the parts maintaining a balance of pressure, the differences of pressure may be utilized to wholly or partially balance the axial thrust of the turbine.
