244,561. Montgomerie, J. A. Oct. 28, 1924. Addition to 226,032. Emulsions, making.-The process of the parent Specification, according to which mineral pitch or asphalt is melted and emulsified by direct admixtures with a hot dilute aqueous caustic alkaline solution, a small percentage of soap being optionally added to the emulsion when prepared, is modified by adding to the soap-containing emulsion, or to the ingredients being emulsified in presence of soap, a proportion of coal tar or blast furnace tar and/or coal tar pitch or blast furnace pitch. Alternatively the coal tar may be added together with soap to the mineral pitch or asphalt in process of emulsification.
