Abstract
244,067. Hopedale Manufacturing Co., (Assignees of Draper, C. H., and Northrop, J.). Dec. 3, 1924, [Convention date]. Checking shuttles; shuttle relief motions.-Inertia means, consisting of a weighted arm 21 fixed to the stop-rod 17, acts to vary the pressure of the usual binder fingers 15 on the shuttle-box swells 14 in accordance with the degree of acceleration of the lay in its oscillation. It acts to ease the shuttle for picking, and, in a weft-replenishing loom, of 'the bobbin-changing type, to facilitate bobbin transfer; and it acts to increase the binder pressure during boxing. A stop 24 mounted on the hub of the inertia-arm 21 co-operates with a plate 25 on the lay to prevent overthrow of the stop 18. In a modification, the hub 33, Fig. 3, of the arm 21 is rotatably mounted and shoulders 36 on the hub 33 and on a fixed collar 35 engage to limit relative rotation of the said members. A spring 37 between lugs 38, 39 on the said members acts to make the increases in binder pressure more gradual.
