Looms, checking shuttles and pickers in.-When the shuttle enters the box, the picker is driven between, and checked by blade springs 3, Fig. 1, bolted to a bracket 1 fixed to the bottom of the box, and is finally stopped by a spring or rubber buffer 7. Pressure is removed from the picker before the next pick by the shuttle entering between the springs 3. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, when the shuttle is picked, the picker 14 strikes, and is checked by, a leather pad 13 resting on the spindle 8 and carried by a bent lever 9 which is pivoted at the front of the box. The end 11 of the lever 9 is connected by a spiral spring to a fixed point on the lay, or to a like lever at the opposite side of the loom. The end 11 may be connected by a strap 15 to a pad or loop of leather 16 on the picking-spindle.
