Aluminous cements. - Alumino-calcareous cements are obtained by heating a mixture of bauxite and calcareous material during a long period (e.g. 9-12 hours) at a temperature well be low its melting point, suitable temperatures being 900-1100‹ C. The proportions of the ingredients are such that when the contents of lime, silica, and alumina are expressed as percentages of the whole, the expression Ca O- (2 Si O2 + ¢ Al2 O3,) is between + 15 and - 15, and is preferably zero.
