Drying materials in long lengths. -Artificial filaments obtained bv the coagulation of cellulose solutions, and unwound from spools immersed in a bath, are dried by a current of air of great bulk, high speed, and moderate temperature, for example, 70‹ C. The air is directed through a flat nozzle 1 upon the filaments as they are wound upon a roller 2 rotated through friction rollers 3, 3<1>, and mounted above the bath. The heat in the moisture-laden air may be recovered. After drving, the filaments may be conducted to a twisting frame, and the washing, drying, spooling, and twisting operations thus carried out in the same plant.
