Abstract
241,100. Champly, H. G. C. March 19, 1925. Vibration - dampers. - In friction shock-absorbers for motor vehicles of the type having levers 7, 11 attached to the frame 4 of the vehicle and to the axle respectively, the usual friction washers 2 are of plano-convex form and are clamped between the flat surface of the lever 11 and the concave surface of the levers 7, the curvature of the washers 2 being less than that of the inner surfaces of the levers 7, so that frictional contact takes place near the periphery. The area of contact can be increased by tightening the nut 4<a> and so flattening the dished ends of the levers 7. The nut 4<a> may be held in the desired position by a spanner 15 which is left permanently in place and is secured upon a stud 16. The metal of the lever 11 is curved upwards at 3<a> round the bolt hole. Lubricating passages may be formed in the bolt 1 and washers 2.
