Switches, quick-action; flexible pull actuation.-A pull or push switch of the kind in which similar movements of the operating member, in the same direction, alternately put the switch on and off comprises a slotted link, which may correspond to the dolly of a quick make and break tumbler switch of the kind described in Specification 140,180, actuated at one end or other by a member which receives a rectilinear movement as by a pull chain or push rod. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the end of a chain f is attached to a piston-like member m guided in a slotted part of a bushing i constituting the bridge of the switch. The member m has a transverse pin upon which the open ends of a U-shaped double link f<1> are pivoted the other end carrying a pin e which engages in the slots c which have enlargements d at their ends. A washer l bears frictionally upon the link f<1> under the action of a spring h and serves to move the link to the other end of the slots when the chain f is released after being pulled, ready for actuation of the switch in the opposite direction when the chain is again pulled. At the conclusion of the operating effort the stress upon the oscillating member is exerted in a line passing approximately through the fixed axis b of the operating member. In the modifications shown in Figs. 3 and 5 the end of the - chain has a member with cross-pins e<1> for engaging the slots directly attached to it and the slotted guided member is dispensed with. The spring h<1> acts between the cross-pins and the bridge g<4> or an oscillating member q fitting in the bridge.
