Abstract

A digital map of the underground consists of a screen which demonstrates the journey for the user. A dialogue box is provided which will explain to the user how to get to their destination and this explanation is translated into many languages. The dialogue box tells the user, either by writing or speaking, when to change train lines, whether or not any lines are shut and alternative ways of travel. The map could be coin operated and there could be an option to print instructions for the user. Flashing lights may indicate where a change of trains is required and/or to indicate lines as they are being mentioned in the dialogue box. A touch sensitive panel may be provided which lists all available destinations.

Description

Digital tube Map It has occured to me how many people stand infront of the
tube map not knowing how to use it.
Especially tourist or people who do not speak the language.
To solve this problem I have come up with the idea of a digital tube Map, the map which will explain to the user exactly how to get to their destination. The digital tube Map will consist of a screen which demonstrates the journey for the customer and hopefully will make it easier to understand.
In the dialogue box the tube Map will explain to the user or customer how they can get to their destination, the dialogue box will be able to translate the explanation in many languages. It will also tell the user when there are any changes to certain train lines, wether or not they are shut down and alternative ways of travel.
I believe that this tube map would be a great success in the stations or Airports.
It could make some money for the train services, a small payment for the use of this technology would intime make a great income. It would also save the staff at train stations a lot of time because people are constantly asking how to go about their journey, if the current tube maps are really useful, then why are people always asking There is a lot of room for improvement with this technology, infect the tube map could be used to inform customers of a whole range of information It could print the instructions for the customers and lots more.
I believe that this technology would be a great success and deserves a trial.
