Abstract
240,068. Thompson, C. H., and Martin, N. March 6, 1925. Alloys.-A corrosion-resisting iron alloy contains 0.06-0.12 per cent of carbon, 0.4-0.8 per cent of silicon, 10-14 per cent of chromium, 2-3.1 per cent of nickel, and 0.15-0.24 per cent of tungsten. The alloy is preferably made wholly in an electric furnace; or the iron may be melted in a gas-fired furnace and the production of the alloy completed in an electric furnace, the heating in the electric furnace being in either case maintained until the mass is homogeneous. The chromium is preferably added as ferro-chromium and the tungsten as ferro-tungsten.
