Holders for sliding windows. - A motor vehicle body consists of a number of separate units spaced apart and connected by yielding non - metallic strips whereby the units are held against any considerable relative displacement, but some degree of flexibility is afforded so as to allow for slight warping of the chassis frame. Each unit consists of an inner pressed metal shell a<2> and an outer shell a', and has window openings provided with pressed metal frames h, h<1>, h<2> welded to the shells a<1>, a<2>. The windows are fitted with rollers j and slide in guides formed on one side by a metal strip k and on the other by a metal angle piece l, which is pressed outwards by a rubber cushion i so as to grip the roller j. Recesses l<1>, Fig. 3, are formed in the frame to retain the roller j in various positions. When completely open, the window rests in a socket L fitted with a rubber strip o to stop rattle.
