Abstract
239,047. Aridor Patents, Ltd., Turpin, W. A., and Cowie, J. Sept. 4, 1924. Internal fittings.-In containers closed by a cap or stopper held in the mouth of the container by a rubber or like ring adapted to be deformed by a cam lever &c. outside the cap, the cap is provided with means for carrying a moistureabsorbing composition for drying the contents of the container. The cap comprises a rim 13, Fig. 2, adapted to fit over the mouth of the container 14, and a central imperforate casing 15 slidable therein, a rubber ring 19 being disposed between the rim 13 and a flange on the casing 15 so that it is deformed to engage the wall of the container when the casing is raised by cams 22 at the ends of a handle 20 pivoted to the casing. A perforated bottom plate 16 supports a moisture absorbing pad 19<1>. Two cams 22 are provided at each end of the handle 20 so that movement thereof from the vertical position in either direction raises the casing 15. The plate 16 may be detachably connected to the casing 15 and means may be provided for cutting the pad off from contact with the outer air when desired. An interrupted flange 24, Fig. 6, on an imperforate lid 31 engages a corresponding channel 25 formed on an apertured bottom plate 28, supported by lugs 29 integral with the rim 13. The lugs pass through slots in the flange 30 of the casing 15 so that when the casing is raised to close the bottle the pad 19<1> communicates with the eontainer through the spaces between the lugs, but when the casing is lowered it rests on the ring 28 and entirely encloses the pad 19<1>. As shown in Fig. 11, an outer lid 39, pivoted to the lid 37 which supports the pad 19<1>, is provided with perforations adapted to be moved into register with perforations in the lid 37, and the pad is enclosed in an inner casing 45.
