Abstract
238,436. Daeschner, F., M³nzer, P., and Blaschke, E. Dec. 9, 1924. Linings.-A bearing, particularly for railway vehicle axles, has, between the iron of the bearing bracket and the soft bearing material, a lining of bronze or like alloy which is cast while in a molten condition in the iron body and which extends to the end and side edges thereof to prevent contact of the axle and the iron body should the soft metal run through beating and to increase the heat conducting capacity of the bearing. As shown, an iron body a, Fig. 1, has cast bronze liners b with integral end flanges h which are lined with soft metal c. The latter runs into holes in the end flanges h and into dovetailed grooves formed between adjacent parts of the bronze lining b. A binding layer y of a material of low melting point, such as tin or zinc may be attached to the iron body, electrolytically or otherwise, before running in the molten bronze, to improve the mechanical connection between the bronze and the iron. The bronze end flanges h may run into dovetailed grooves in the iron body a, or, as shown in Fig. 4, the flanges h may be secured to the inner lining b by bridge pieces i formed by running the molten bronze in holes in the iron body. The inner soft bearing material should preferably be cast in the bearing while the bronze lining is still hot.
