Abstract

238,164. Zachhuber, F. May 15, 1925. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Tongs for bending insulating pipes in which electric wires are laid comprise a yielding or resilient abutment jaw and a grooved roller on the other jaw member having different parts of its grooved circumference shaped to different curvatures, so that, by adjustment of the roller, pipes may be bent to different radii at the bends. The yielding abut- 3 carried in a box 2 on the lower jaw of parallelmovement tongs 1 may consist of a block of elastic material or of a plurality of plates held together by a tension spring. The roller 4 may be of oval shape with two grooves 4<1>, 4<11> suitable for pipes of different diameter, the two grooves running into each other at opposite points adjacent to the longer axis of the oval so that each groove extends over an apex and a broad side of the roller. The roller may be held in any position on its pivot by a pawl 6 engaging notches 5 in the pivot pin.
