Securing ends of ropes.-Anchoring device for overhead transmission line or other cable comprises a member having a groove the radius of curvature of which diminishes from the point of entry of the cable to the point at which it is held by the grip or clamp. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the device consists of a disc A with a spiral flanged groove which commences on one side of the disc at the point A<2> and ends at the point A<3> where the cable end is secured by a clamp C. Another construction is shown in Fig. 3, and comprises a conical member A' provided with a cable groove A<7> of uniform or varying pitch. In both cases the anchoring lug D is disposed so as to be in line with the main stretch of cable.
