Abstract
237,109. Spence, W. L. Aug. 12, 1924. Lids; battens, strengthening.-Trunks are made dust- and weather-tight by encircling the meeting edges of the lid and body by a stretched elastic band which may be part or the whole of a tyre tube and may in the latter case be inflated. The lid and body may be provided with battens B, B', Fig. 1, of wood, indiarubber, &c., upon which the band seats, the battens being preferably of bellied shape with thinned corners as shown in Fig. 3.
