Corner strengthening pieces; straps &c., strengthening; lids and covers.-A trunk consists of separate body and cover portions 1, 2 pressed into shape from vulcanized fibre, leather, or similar material, each portion being formed with recessed corners 7, 8, Fig. 2, into which separate corner-pieces 3, 4 of the same material are pressed so as to be flush with the surfaces of the portions, the cornerpieces being secured in place by means of waterproof cement. The body portion has a metal edging 9 to which is attached a frame 10 which projects above the edge of the cover.
