Abstract
236,959. Birkigt, M. July 14, 1924, [Convention date]. Cylindrical journal bearings; covers.-In grinding articles such as the cam-shafts or explosion engines of the Hispano-Suiza type, the cam-shaft on which the cams are to be ground is mounted in cylindrical bearings 6 secured by bolts 11, preferably lubricating-bolts, as shown in Fig. 3, to the cradle of the machine, the bearings being preferably equal in number to those provided for the cam-shaft in the engine. The cradle is adapted to rock about pivots and is formed with a surface 5‹ of the same curvature as the bearings which are divided into two parts hinged on one side to a link 12, and held resiliently together by means of a pivoted spring bolt 14. The cage of the spring has a base of spherical form coacting with a similar recess in the bearing cap. The bearings are protected by hinged casings 17.
