236,824. Gillette, M. G. Jan. 7, 1925. Razors, safety. In a safety razor having a flexible blade 7 adjustably held on a guard 5 by a clamping-plate 1 actuated by the handle 4, the guard has cut-out notches or pockets 10 adjacent the edges of the blade, the pockets receiving such edges when the blade is strongly curved as shown in Fig. 1, and preventing accidental infuction of cuts when the razor is handled. The pockets are formed in the ends of the guard and in partitions bridging slots 8 along the sides thereof, one wall 11 of each pocket being curved and inclined and the other wall 12 being straight as shown in Fig. 5 which also shows the blade in the less-curved shaving position.
