Charging.-A device for ensuring uniform distribution of the, fuel over the whole grate a;rea of a gas generator or other furnace comprises a member 3, secured to the underside of the revolving charging-plate 1 so as to rotate therewith, and formed at its lower end with a number of faces to which are secured the distributing plates 4. The distributing plates, of which, as shown, four are provided, are each vertical at the upper part and curved at the lower end e, the curvature being such that the outer ends of the plates are at different horizontal distances from the axis of rotation so that the fuel is distributed evenly over the whole area of the generator. A casing 5, provided with a door 6, encloses the charging and distributing devices.
