Steam and water drums.-A metal casing D placed around a boiler drum to protect it from the direct heat of the furnace is formed of a number of metal strips extending longitudinally of the drum and having a number of semicircular recesses to receive the water-tubes. The strips are supported upon the inside of curved bars F extending around the bottom of an upper drum, or upon the outside of curved bars G extending around the top of a lower drum. The engaging edges of the strips are notched or bevelled.
