Abstract
235,721. Ryan, S. June 26, 1924. Lateral-splash guards; mud-guards. - A combined splash and mud guard comprises a peripheral guard 1, 2 of substantially U-shaped crosssection, adapted to cover the outer and side surfaces of the tyre, and also, if desired, the wheel rim, and a flexible lateral-splash guard 3 of chain mail, leather, &c. arranged on one or both sides of the wheel, and, if desired, around the front and back. The peripheral guard is made in two parts 1, 2, which overlap at the top, and are adapted to be drawn together, or separated for removal, by means of a right and left hand screw spindle 7 engaging nuts 10, 11 on the parts 2, 1 respectively. Alternatively, the parts 1, 2 may be carried by brackets adapted to slide on a bar of square section and to be bolted together. The peripheral guard may be strengthened by longitudinal corrugations. The guard 3 may have roller fenders 12.
