Abstract
234,541. Cannon, A. H. Sept. 27, 1924. Catches, automatic; fastenings operating electric alarms; locks, pin-key.-A fastening for sliding sashes comprises a spring or gravity-actuated catch o pivoted at p in the case d in the sash frame and adapted to engage one of a number of holes in the upper sash in such a manner that the sash can be closed automatically but cannot be opened without the use of a key. The catch is secured in its engaging position by a projection it on a cylinder s which can be turned by means of a. key either to an intermediate position or so as to cause the projection u to engage the heel w of the catch to withdraw the latter, and, if desired, hold it in its retracted position. The catch when withdrawn may contact with a spring 6 forming part of an electric bell circuit, so that, if the switch in the circuit is closed and an unauthorized attempt is made to withdraw the catch, the circuit is completed and the alarm given. When applied to the lower sash the fastening is inverted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 26486/04 and 17986/06.
