Locks and fastenings operating burglar alarms; hasp fastenings. - A hasp bar for doors and windows has a projection or push-rod which controls an electric alarm of either the closed or open circuit type. The bar has a member C carrying a headed stud D which engages in a keyhole slot in the plate F to attach the bar to the leaf A of the door. The other member H of the bar is hinged to C at G and has a slot which enables it to fit over the staple K, which is fixed to the other leaf B of the door. The padlock L passes through the staple K to lock the leaves of the door together. The alarmbell circuit is carried behind the leaf B of the door in a box M<1>, and a push-rod O extends through the door leaf and box wall so that when the member H is engaged over the staple, the rod O is pushed inwards, its head bearing against the switch arm P, breaking the contact P, P<1>. The door 11 of the box, when closed, holds open a similar parallel circuit 10. A gap V in the circuit can be closed after the leaves of the door are locked together, by the bolt W<1> of the key-lock W. If either of the switches P or 10 are allowed to make contact by tampering with the member H or the door 11, the alarm-bell circuit is completed and the bell rings. A relay is included in the circuit so that the bell continues to ring independently of the contacts P, P<1>, and 10, once either has been made. The string 9 enables the relay circuit to be broken and the alarm re-set.
