Abstract

234,455. Merseles, H. E., (Assignee of Merseles, H. R.). May 20, 1924, [Convention date]. Plates, dishes, and the like, washing.-In apparatus in, which water is sprayed from orifices in distributors 20, which are rotated by the back pressure of the water, in order to neutralize the difference between the inlet and outlet pressures of the water, and so avoid undue thrust on the bearings of the distributor, the total area of the orifices on the discharge side of the distributor is made substantially equal to that of the inlet orifice. One of the oulets 50, equal in area to the difference between the inlet 41 and the combined areas of the discharge nozzles 24, is closed by a plate 37 clamped to a stationary spindle 30 secured in the supply conduit 14 and around which the distributor 22 rotates. The plate 37 is of such dimensions that the distributor can rotate freely, but substantial escape of water between the distributor and plate is prevented. A tube 27 spaced from the spindle 30 by graphite bushings 32, 33 is secured to a spider 25 integral with the distributor. The invention may be applied to four-bladed distributors, and in the two-bladed modification shown in Fig. 7 the unbalanced pressure is taken by a plate 85 secured to the perforated bearing member 81, passages 83 placing the plate in communication with the pressure in the distributor conduits.
