Pistons; reducing and equalizing wear of. - In a piston of light alloy the packing rings are carried by a shrunk-on steel ring 3, formed with a flange 4 engaging a groove in the piston head. When the piston is of the type comprisng a crown connected to the skirt by a portion of reduced diameter, the gap between the crown and the skirt may be covered by a shrunk-on ring 8, of the same material as the piston, having a flange 10 and recess 11 engaging the piston body.
