Abstract

233,438. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Hastings, H. C. Feb. 11, 1924. Master control systems.-A set of electromagnetically operated contactors which close in automatic succession under the control of a two-wire notching relay is associated with two additional relays which when alternately energized by a two-way switch enable the contactors to close in non-automatic succession independently of the notching relay. In the arrangement shown in the drawing, contactors 1 - - 6 short - circuit resistances R<1> - - R<6> for starting a motor M, the successive closures proceeding automatically under the control of a twowire notching relay O, O<1>. If either side of the relay is held up by excessive current in the series windings p, p', the closing sequence is suspended either until the current is reduced or until one of the two additional relays 104. 105 is energized by means of a driver's two-way switch 101. The additional relays bridge over the respective gaps at the notching-relay contacts, so that they must be used alternately in order to continue the closing sequence non - automatically. Specifications 7113/09 and 20662/12 are referred to.
