Abstract

233,434. Bradley, J. H. Feb. 9, 1924. Variable resistances.-The casing of a rheostat &c. is rendered dust proof by providing the operating arm 2 which extends through the casing 19 with a cylindrical hub 9 which fits bearing surfaces 11 which are completely cylindrical at the end portions of the hub but are only arcuate, Fig. 4, at the middle portion of the hub where recesses 12 and 13 are cut away to allow of movement of the arm 2. The end of the arm 2 carries a laminated brush having its end bent outwards in two portions 5, 7 for making contact with a resistance wire 6 and a fixed contact plate 8.
