Abstract
209,241. Hewitt, J. H., and Wilkins & Wright, Ltd. Nov. 9, 1922. Switches, mechanical, without quick action, for use with wireless apparatus, where the metal parts should be of small volume and well separated to reduce capacity effects, have movable contacts 10 made of wire or strip metal and mounted on the insulating rotatable drum 8 in skeleton quadrant form to co-operate with spring contact fingers .13, 14, 15 which are mounted on the base and formed with V grooves at their contacting ends to ensure good contact. The. invention is shown in Fig. 1 applied to a four-pole change-over switch. A stop 20, mounted on the spindle support 2, limits the extreme angular movement of the drum. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the fixed contacts are parallel with the axis of the rotatable spindle 4 on which the insulating disc carrying the skeleton contacts is mounted. A number of units similar to that shown in Fig. 4 may be superimposed one on the other and be operated by a common spindle. As shown in Fig. 8 applied to a variable inductance 55, one of the skeleton contacts 53 is extended round the drum at 56.
