Abstract
Hydrocyanic acid is separated from gaseous mixtures containing hydrocyanic acid by treating the mixtures with absorbents such as activated charcoal or silica gel, either singly or in combination, in the presence of liquids capable themselves of absorbing hydrocyanic acid. Water may be used, introduced as steam, and acids may also be employed. The additional liquids may be added before or during the absorption; and the acidification may also take place before or during the process. The hydrocyanic acid taken up is discharged in the usual manner.ALSO:Hydrocyanic acid is separated from gaseous mixtures containing hydrocyanic acid by treating the mixtures with absorbents such as activated charcoal or silica gel, either singly or in combination, in the presence of liquids capable themselves of absorbing hydrocyanic acid.
