Abstract

232,774. Marazzi, E. April 24, 1924. Mountings.-Machine-gun mountings for use on air and naval craft are provided with automatic means, operated by pressure exerted on the gunner's seat, for raising and lowering the gun to suit high or low angle firing positions. In the form shown, the gun 24 is carried by a tube 6 slidable in a frame 5 upstanding from a sleeve 23 trainable on a cylindrical vertical pivot forming part of a stand 26. The gunner's seat 9, which is connected by links 8 to the frame 5, carries a pulley 17 over which passes a cable 19. One end of the cable is anchored to the frame and the other end, after passing over an adjustable guide pulley 18 is connected to the lower end of the tube 6. The cylindrical parts of the vertical pivot are retained in position by a two-part coned clip 32. The invention may also be applied to aircraft mountings of the ring type.
