Abstract
232,384. Belling, C. R., Lee, E. M., O'Connell, H., and Arnold, C. L. March 6, 1924. Grant of Patent revoked. Binding - posts and terminals. -Terminals or binding posts, of the kind in which an adjustable clamping nut is screwed on to a post so that when screwed down the wire is clamped in position against a shoulder or when passed. through a hole in the post, are formed with an entire upper face marked to designate the nature of the terminal, and the nut is so associated with the post that it cannot be detached therefrom. The post a comprises an upper portion a' of a diameter greater than that of the lower portion a<2> and is provided with a shoulder c which may have serrations g on its lower surface. A wire may be held in place by the clamping nut d against the shoulder c or by means of a hole e through the upper part a' of the post. This clamping nut is placed on the screwed portion a<1> which is subsequently spun over at a<3>, so as to permit movement in the recess d<1> in the upper part of the nut, and to prevent the nut being disengaged from the post a. The upper portion of the nut d is provided with a closing disc f, lettered to suit the function of the terminal and fitting a groove cut in its upper surface. In a modification the post consists of two portions a, a<2>, Fig. 3, and the head of the terminal is screwed into the portion a, the lower end a<3> of the screwed stem a<1> being spun over to prevent removal.
