Abstract

Clamps, screw.-A clamp for making a temporary connection to an overhead conductor b comprises jaws a, d, and an operating-member for opening and closing the jaws, the operating- member being so formed as to permit of the ready engagement therewith of a fitting on the end of a pole, which is used both for lifting up and bring- ing down the clamp and for effecting the engagement and disengagement of the jaws with the conductor. The lower jaw a is formed with a guide or hook member c for facilitating its engagement with the conductor, and the upper jaw d is carried by a member g slidably mounted in an extension e of the jaw a. The member g is formed as a nut, with which engages a rotatablymounted hollow screw k formed with a hollow conical extension n. The screw is rotated by the engagement of a pin s with notches o in the conical extension, the pin being carried by a fitting q, Fig. 3, secured to the top of the pole. The fitting is formed with a conical face t and a spike or bulbous pin u adapted to enter the screw k.
