Abstract

1,187,077. Terminals. BELLING & LEE Ltd. 11 Oct., 1968 [11 Oct., 1967], No. 46462/67. Heading H2E. In an electrical binding post a transverse bore 10 in a head member 9 can be aligned with a hole 6 in a. rectangular conductive stem.5 so that a bared conductor passed through the aligned bore and holewill be clamped by jaw members 11, which are gripped by skirt 12 of' the head member 9, under the action of a helical spring 8. The head member 9 and jaws 11 are made from insulating plastics material, e.g. nylon or polypropylene. A hole 14 may be provided in the head member 9 and, with a. conductive tubular portion 13, used as an external tapping socket. Shaft 1 may be adapted formaking external electrical connections and/or for mounting the binding post, for example in a metal member by passing it through an insulating member having a non-circular stem which keys into a similar hole in the plate, the post being clamped thereto by a: series of washers, nuts and O- rings which provide seals passing over the threaded shaft portion 2.
