Abstract

229,119. Williams, L. E., and Brooker, H. T. March 14, 1924. Binding-posts and terminals self-clamping, comprise a pair of clamping components on a post, arranged to cant relatively, with means or one or both for definitely locat ing and securely gripping an inserted pin or plug to prevent dislodgement sideways. A grooved member 6 may be clamped on a post 1 between a nut 7 and a sleeve 4 upon which a disc 5 is arranged to slide and cant, under control by a spring 3, so as to grip a pin or plug 15 inserted into either groove 12, 13. The entrances to the grooves may be flared, and the grooves may be inclined to each other to avoid straining the joints between pins and flexible leads when attaching them to adjacent terminals arranged on an arc of a circle, as in a telephone distribution board.
