Abstract

374,198. Wire resistances ; couplings. WUNDERLICH & KÍNIG GES., 75, C÷penickerstrasse, Berlin. April 13, 1931, No. 10907. Convention date, April 12, 1930. [Classes 37 and 38 (i).] Direct connections between conductors.-Resistances consisting of wire wound on an insulating support and embedded in a glaze or vitreous enamel are provided with metal contact pins arranged on the support before the glazing process and having openings for the reception of the wire, which is clamped by compression of the pins. The pin 4, Fig. 2, is roughened or threaded at its lower end 3 and is cemented or screwed into the insulating support 6. It is provided with a hole or a slit 5 for the reception of the resistance wire, which may be very fine, e.g. 0À02 mm. diameter. A small piece of solder which softens at the glazing temperature may be inserted at the same time. A stronger wire serving as an external connection may also be inserted. The upper part of the pin is compressed to secure the wire. For a tapped resistance, the insulating support 6 may be provided with a dovetail groove 10, Fig. 8, the contact pins 9 being correspondingly shaped so that pins may be slid into the groove at appropriate points during winding and subsequently secured by the flowing round them of the vitreous enamel. Alternatively they may be cemented in place previous to winding. Connection with the pins may be made by clips 11, Fig. 9, surrounding the body of the resistance. The clip may be provided at the point of contact with a hole into which the head of the pin fits and may be soldered, or with a depression, or slits 18, Fig. 13, may be stamped in the clip leaving a strip 13 which stretches when the clip is tensioned.
