Abstract

Roller-conveyer apparatus.-Wire or strip i to be plated passes over-an insulating drum h above the bath and under an insulating drum c within the bath in several convolutions so as to travel several times through the bath, and leaves the ,drum h at the opposite end from that at which it arrived. The wire may be pulled off the drum h against tension on the entrance side or the drum may be driven by a pulley. Anodes j hung from bearers k connected to leads n, o are disposed on either side of the wire or strip. The wire or strip is connected as cathode by contact with upper bars q connected to leads r; the bars may be replaced by rollers. The axial travel of the wire or strip is ensured by grooved rods l, m having their grooves in staggered relation. The drum c is supported by bearers d. In a modification the drums are grooved and the rods l, m are dispensed with. In another modification the anodes are disposed between successive vertical stretches of the wire or strip.
