Abstract

Disc and wheel apparatus. - A polishing-wheel 1 is mounted in a frame 3 provided with a table 4 having guides 5 for elements 7 carrying a shaft 6. The shaft serves as a guide for a sliding member 8 carrying a frame 9 having a horizontal portion on which is slidably mounted a support 15 having thereon a work-carrier 16. The support 15 is guided by a slot 19 in the frame 9 and by a spindle 18 connected to the carrier 16, the carrier being rotatable by a handle 20 or automatically, and a spring 21 normally holding the carrier down; the support may be moved by a screw 17 or by a lever, and its movement may be automatic. The frame 9 is raised, to move the work against the wheel 1, by a lever 23 pulled down by a spring 26, the lever being raised, to move the work away from the wheel, by a pedal 28 and a rod 29; the frame is guided by a slot 14 therein and a bolt 13 carried by a part 12 mounted on a shaft 10 secured to the guides 5. The member 8 is moved on the shaft 6 by rods 30, 31 operated, through rods 36, 37, by a lever 38. Supplying abrading-materials.-Polishing material is applied to the wheel by a device 41 holding a block of the material and moved against the wheel on movement of the lever 23 by the pedal.
