Abstract

Tool-holders; chasers.-In a screw-cutting chaser-holder which is adjustable to vary the inclination of the cutting-grooves to correspond with threads of different diameters, the angular adjustment is performed about the cutting edge as centre so that the cutting edge always remains level with the lathe centres. The chaser 5 is held in a. block 2 having an arcuate projection entering a corresponding slot 3 in the shank 1, the centre of the slot being adjacent the point 4. The block and chaser are secured simultaneously by a stud 7 passing through a curved slot 12 in the shank, a screw 10 preventing complete withdrawal of the stud. The block may also be locked by a screw having a head engaging the shank. In a modification, the arcuate slot is formed in the block and the projection on the shank.
