Abstract

When a sensor 2 detects that the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in a motor vehicle brake system 1 is above a predetermined level, a switch 3 causes a clocking circuit 4 to flash the hazard lights 5 and the brake lights 6 thereby indicating to other road users that the vehicle is decelerating at a greater than average rate.

Description

Brake System Hydraulic Pressure Controlled Motor Vehicle Brake Light and Hazard Light Switch This invention relates to a system that causes the brake lights and hazard lights of a motor vehicle to flash when the pressure in the vehicle brake hydraulic system exceeds a specified amount.
Existing brake lights on motor vehicles signal to road users behind that the driver of the vehicle is applying the brakes to slow the vehicle down. What existing brake lights do not indicate, however, is the force with which the vehicle is decelerating, so that road users behind mis-react to the signal given to them. With the addition of the system the subject of this paper, an additional signal will be passed to other road users by the flashing of the brake lights and hazard lights, indicating that the motor vehicle is decelerating with a greater than average force. This should enable the other road users to react more appropriately to the particular situation.
The Brake System Hydraulic Pressure Controlled Motor Vehicle Brake Light and Hazard Light Switch comprises a pressure gauge (2 in figure (i)) and a switch (3 in figure (i)) that triggers the vehicle's existing hazard lights clocking device (4 in figure (i)) that activates the vehicle's brake lights (6 in figure (i)) and hazard lights (5 in figure (i)) when the pressure in the motor vehicle brake hydraulic system (1 in figure (i)) exceeds a certain predetermined amount.
Presently, motor vehicle brake lights are activated by a switch that is activated when the brakes are applied.

  1. Brake System Hydraulic Pressure Controlled Motor Vehicle
    Brake Light and Hazard Light Switch Claims 1. The Brake System Hydraulic Pressure Controlled Motor Vehicle Brake Light and Hazard Light Switch comprises a pressure gauge (2 in figure (i)) and a switch (3 in figure (i)) that triggers the vehide's existing hazard lights clocking device (4 in figure (i)) that activates the vehide's brake lights (6 in figure (i)) and hazard lights (5 in figure (i)) when the pressure in the motor vehicle brake hydraulic system (1 in figure (i)) exceeds a certain pre-determined amount.
    The pressure gauge measures the pressure inside the vehicle's brake hydraulic system. When the pressure exceeds a certain pre-determined amount, the switch triggers the clock that activates the vehicle's brake lights and hazard lights.
