Feeding-appliances for animals.-A pig-feeder, of the type in which food is delivered from a hopper to a trough through an outlet normally closed by a closure member which may be displaced by the pig, comprises a hopper a having one or more outlets delivering to one or more troughs d, the food resting on each closure member e which is reciprocated across its outlet by a pig pressing thereagainst. Each closure member by means of its leg-piece e<1> thus rocks about a horizontal pivot f against the action of a spring g. In modifications (1) a closure member with its end of an inverted V-shape e, Fig. 6, slides horizontally, being supported by rods or alternatively on rollers or guides e<3>, Fig. 7; and (2) the closure member swings in an horizontal plane, being pivoted at one end and provided at the other with a nose piece e<4>, Fig. 9, for the pig to press sideways.
