229,199. Young, C. A., Woodington, J. H., and Patent Machinery Co., Ltd. Aug. 5, 1924. Heels, machines for.-An appliance for fixing heels to shoes and top-pieces to heels, comprises an operating stand a, a shoe block c adapted to be mounted in either of two positions on the stand, i.e. with the sole substantially horizontal or substantially vertical, a heel clamping screw d, and means for boring holes through the sole into the heel and through the top piece into the heel. The block c and screw d are bored for the passage of a gimlet and screw driver, for attachment of the heel and top piece. A detachable clamping member e is provided to hold the cemented extension of the sole against the heel breast, this member being pivoted to a frame e<2> to which is also pivoted a handle e<4>. The handle is adjustable to or from the pad e by a screw and nut e<3>, and, after adjustment, is engaged over a fulcrum pin e<6> on the block c and pressed downwards until it contacts with a stop e<7>.
