Abstract

229,163. MeGeoch, W. June 10, 1924. Securing globes to holders.-In an electric lamp fitting in which the ring 5 of a globe guard 6 screws into a cap 1 and grips the flange 8 of a glass or like transparent globe 3, together with a rubber washer 4 between it and the cap, the guard is regained in position by one or more radially movable rods 10 engaging in grooves 9 cut across the threads 7 on the ring 5 in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the guard. The threads 7 are preferably in the form of a four-start square thread, but they may be replaced by projections on the ring 5 adapted to engage with helical grooves formed in the cap 1. The rod 10 has a screw-threaded portion 11 engaging a nut 12 which abuts against the end of a cylindrical casing 14, and, when rotated, withdraws the rod 10 against the action of a spring 15.
