Mounting shades directly on rods or tubes. - A nut for securing a lamp shade to an incandescent electric lamp holder comprises a one-piece metal sleeve having an intermediate reduced diameter portion a threaded for engagement with the lamp socket, an upper unthreaded portion b preferably of shallow cupped or flared configuration, and a lower unthreaded portion d preferably of greater depth than the lamp socket e. The lower portion d may be provided with apertures g and with serrations f around its periphery.
