Abstract
228,929. Heller, J. Feb. 8, 1924, [Convention date]. Conical mills; disc mills.-The stones of a corn-grinding mill are provided with feeding and grinding grooves so arranged that the feeding or drawing-in grooves of the two stones cross each other while the guiding grooves are substantially parallel to each other. As shown, the grinding-ribs 5, Fig. 2, of the rotary bottom stone are substantially tangential to the outer ends of the spiral feeding-ribs 3, while the grinding-ribs 8, Fig. 3, of the stationary upper stone make considerable angles with the outer ends of the spiral feeding-ribs 6. The top stone may rotate and t.he lower stone be stationary; or both stones may revolve in opposite directions. Cooling- grooves 9 may be cut into the inner periphery of the grinding-rings 4, 7 and have substantially the same direction as the ribs 3, 6. The parts of the stones carrying the working faces may be made as interchangeable rings of high-grade steel &c. The ring 10, Fig. 5, is mounted on a flange or disc 12 rigidly connected with a hub 11, and is held in the correct concentric position by a conical boss 14 screwed on to the hub 11 and engaging a conical surface on the inner periphery of the ring. A stud 18 on the disc 12 engages in a recess on the bottom side of the ring 10.
